Kicking Boxes - a song on the WW1 commemorative album - A Muddy Waltz.

This song is about the breakdown of family life, a subject close to my heart and one that was a significant feature in the lives of many who returned from the travails of the Great War.

When I think about the thousands of men who lost their lives or who suffered greatly from the scars of war I also think about the families of those men, the wives and lovers, children and mothers, fathers. I think about the societal impact of a generation of wounded souls and how that affected the 20th Century, how the stress played out through millions of lives and what it has left us with here at the beginning of the 21st Century.

Like most of us, I have experienced the loss of things dear to me, not in the same way that sufferers of war experience, but loss nonetheless. The pain of loss is deeply felt and can last a lifetime.
